Have you ever wondered how a block of aluminum becomes part of a robot?

Join FLYT 2290 for a free, hands-on CNC machining workshop.

You’ll:

• Learn how CNC machines work

• Operate a CNC machine under mentor supervision

• Machine your own aluminum part

• See our 120-pound competition robot up close

Free to Attend | Registration Required | Registration Code: FLYT2290

If you’re entering grades 9-12, and are curious about engineering, robotics, or manufacturing, this is a great place to start!

FLYT Team Overview

Team 2290, FLYT, is a FIRST Robotics Competition team based in Rockford, Illinois. As a community/open team we welcome high school students from throughout the region.

FLYT was formed in 2024, retaining our roots from a previous program established in 2007, carrying forward years of experience in building robots and fostering STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.

Our mission is to inspire students through hands-on learning in robotics where they develop leadership, teamwork, and technical skills that will prepare them for the future workforce.

The mission of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders.

What is a Community Team?

Many FRC teams are linked to specific high schools, only allowing students at that school to participate. Community teams provide opportunities for students at any high school (or home school) who don’t have teams to join.
